Setting Up Your Recording Space
- Get the best results by using our mobile app or webcam recorder.
- If recording with the mobile app, prop your phone against your laptop screen facing you rather than holding it — holding the phone leads to shaky footage.
- Keep the camera at eye level.
- Stay a comfortable distance from the camera.
- Use your background to your advantage: control your environment, minimize background noise by silencing your computer and phone, and close any doors or windows.
- Keep light sources in front of you, not behind you.
Presentation
- Practice. If you have trouble memorizing your lines, try reading from a script on your phone instead.
- Speak clearly and audibly, and keep good posture and composure.
- Avoid bouncing your knees or rocking back and forth, and try to minimize filler words (e.g., "like" or "um").
- Give your video a natural ending by pausing in place for a couple of seconds before stopping, then use the trim tool to clean up the tail end. Don't rush to hit stop — doing so can cause you to start moving before you've finished your last sentence.
A Few Reminders
- You can always re-record, so there's no pressure to get it perfect the first time.
- Remember to smile!
- What you say in your video will likely mirror the email you would have written anyway. With a few small additions, your message is well-positioned to generate a response.
Use the Reply Button as Your Call to Action
Every OneMob video includes a built-in reply button to help drive the feedback you're working toward — viewers can even reply with their own video. Mention the reply button directly in your recording and use it as your call to action.
Example: "Click the reply button on this page to ask me any questions or schedule a time for your personal demo!"
Video Length
Ideal length depends on the purpose of your outreach:
- Prospecting new leads: Aim for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Engaged clients: Slightly longer videos (around 1 minute or more) are fine once you've already built a connection, allowing room for more detail.
